For 500 ml of hop tea making about 17 servings (350 mL) of hop water
For 500 ml of hop tea making about 17 servings (350 mL) of hop water
- Bring 500 ml of distilled water to 170F.
- Place 5 grams of hops in a shot glass and soak in lemon juice.
- Move hops into a coffee filter and slowly add the water on top of hops.
- Let hops steep for 20 minutes before removing hops by removing the coffee filter. This I call the hop tea.
- Chill the hop tea until cold. Once cold add about 30 ml (a shot glass) of hop tea to a can seltzer for hop tea.
Adjust the ratio of tea to seltzer to your preference. At this point, I just eyeball it.

- Boiling the hops
Boil 500 ml of distilled water and allow to cool to 170F. I usually boil less and add cool distilled water to cool it down. While this is boiling, measure out the hops.

I have a loose-leaf tea brewer and the holes are too big to use with the hop pellets. Therefore, I took out the plastic filter and use a pour-over coffee filter. I think a french press or other methods to brew tea or coffee should work. Moving forward, I will be attempting these additional brewing methods.

The current plans are to try pour-over and cold brewing (in the experiments tab).
